CANFIELD, Ohio — CANFIELD, Ohio — Solid-wood bedroom resource Virginia Sterling is teaming up with Ohio manufacturer Valley View Oak to expand the Canal Dover brand of custom dining room.
Valley View has purchased the Canal Dover Furniture brand and will take over manufacturing. Virginia Sterling has been retained as an independent partner and will oversee sales, marketing, product development and design for the brand.
Canal Dover's new line will be shown at the April High Point Market. Introductions will include a custom dining room program, expansion of the Canal Dover Hill House and Stillwater Mission collections, and a custom home office and home theater program. The line will be on display in a 1,700-square-foot showroom across from Virginia Sterling's space at 204 Market Square.
Virginia Sterling, owned by Michael and John Scarsella, acquired the assets of Canal Dover Furniture Co. in September and began production in the company's Midvale, Ohio, facility.
“We knew early on that producing the Virginia Sterling and Canal Dover brands in the same facility would present challenges,” said Michael Scarsella. “The custom nature of the Canal Dover brand requires a unique production process and the demand for the Sterling line of bedroom has continued to increase, commanding the bulk of our capacity and efforts.
“This partnership with Valley View allows us to grow the Canal Dover brand and provide the market with a high-quality, fashion-forward, made-in-America line of custom-made products.”
According to Scarsella, Valley View Oak's specialization in custom dining room and home office, along with a four-week lead time on all orders, make it the ideal manufacturing partner for Canal Dover.
“The chance to leverage our unique production capabilities and partner with Virginia Sterling to re-develop the Canal Dover brand is a tremendous opportunity for Valley View,” said Dan Mast, Valley View Oak's owner.
