Surya debuts Accessory Solution Center

LAS VEGAS — LAS VEGAS — Over the past year, several rug vendors have developed merchandising units that allow retailers to show multiple rug samples in a small-size format rather than full 6-by-9 or 8-by-10 rugs. The result is a mini rug showroom that is cost-efficient for the retailer.
Last week's Las Vegas Market marked the formal debut of Surya's Accessory Solution Center, which offers 18-by-18-inch samples of 50 rugs, a selection of pillows and throws, and visuals of wall art and lamps that coordinate with the rugs, pillows and throws.
“For an investment of less than $1,000, the retailer or designer has a complete home accessories source,” said Satya Tiwari, president of Surya.
Jaunty's Showtime merchandising unit has been around for six years in increasingly sophisticated forms, which makes it the granddaddy of the small-sample programs, according to company executive Kami Navid. He said there are more than 500 Showtime units in stores.
“All the vendors in our business have nice products and quick delivery,” said Navid. “The challenge is to capture the retailer's imagination with new ideas to bring them the maximum amount of products to show with the least amount of investment.”
