Nominations for Pinnacle Awards being accepted

Annual contest held by American Society of Furniture Designers

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 18, 2009

NEW LONDON, N.C. — The American Society of Furniture Designers is accepting nominations for this year's Pinnacle Awards for furniture design.

Open worldwide to any designer or manufacturer, the Pinnacle Awards are not limited to ASFD members. The deadline for submissions is June 1. The awards will be presented during the fall High Point Market at a dinner celebration on Oct. 19.

Furniture designer Katie Hatch is ASFD vice president and chair of the 2009 Pinnacles.
"I strongly believe that through support of innovative design we can make breakthroughs similar to the iPod," said Hatch. "The Pinnacle Awards really celebrate and promote companies that strive for this kind of innovation."

Furniture/Today is the major underwriter of the awards. Additional support and sponsorship is generously provided by Akzo Nobel, Appalachian Hardwoods, Elmo Leather, Furniture Design Studios, Häfele America, High Point Market Authority, Home Lighting and Accessories, Hickory Springs Mfg., Home Furnishings Business, the International Home Furnishings Center and Leggett & Platt.

Information regarding entries can be found at www.asfd.com or from Christine Evans, ASFD's executive director, at (910) 576-1273 or by e-mail at info@asfd.com.

The Pinnacle Design Achievement awards were created in April 1995 by the ASFD's board to promote better design quality and encourage the recognition of furniture designers within the retail home furnishings industry. The awards are intended to celebrate designs that are produced in large numbers for sale to customers through stores.
