Linon to take 220 Elm space
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 27, 2002
HIGH POINT — Linon Home Décor has taken a showroom in 220 Elm for the April market, reinforcing the building's role as a showcase for affordable yet stylish furniture.
Linon, which imports solid-wood ready-to-assemble furniture and other furnishings for national chains and catalogers, will have 7,000 square feet on the building's second floor, which is the ground floor from Elm Street. Linon previously had 4,000 square feet in the National Furniture Mart.
"In the National building, we were a destination," said John Michaelides, vice president of sales. "Now we want to build off the synergies that a popular building like 220 Elm can bring to us."
Developed by its anchor tenant, Palliser, 220 Elm opened last April. Other exhibitors include RTA majors such as Sauder.
The additional space will allow Linon to show more of its line, including merchandise from the subsidiary it introduced in October, Ideal Sedia Casa. Targeting furniture and specialty retailers with furniture from Italy, Ideal Sedia is a step up from Linon's core with retail prices from $399 to $699 for solid-beech dining sets. The line will be expanded in April, Michaelides said.
Linon imports from Eastern Europe, Brazil and Italy. The company primarily serves large chains and major lifestyle retailers requiring logistical efficiency on large shipments.
