Trade Masters in new High Point showroom

Furniture importer will show in Center Point

Thomas Russell -- Furniture Today, February 19, 2009

HIGH POINT — Case goods and upholstery importer Trade Masters has moved to a new showroom here at Center Point, 401 E. Russell Ave.

The company formerly occupied two floors of the Natale Building at 400 English Rd.

It now occupies the entire Center Point building on Russell Avenue, which was formerly occupied by upholstery and case goods resource Davis International and most recently American Dream Rooms, a case goods importer that has since gone out of business.

"The new showroom is more centrally located and will allow our customers to make us their base of operations," said Greg Gapp, company chief financial officer.

Gapp said that the new showroom also covers about 40,000 square feet of usable space on one floor, which is slightly larger than its former location.

He added that Trade Masters will send out 250 parking passes with its market invitations, which will allow buyers to park at the showroom in the morning and use Center Point vans to access other parts of the market during the day.

"Our hope is that our customers will stop by for coffee in the morning and for a cold beverage after a long day," he said. "It's really about providing better service to our retail partners in addition to offering great values in furniture."

The company signed a three-year lease for the space and officially opened for business at the new showroom during Lifestyle Enterprise's Jan. 25-26 Forbidden City show.

"Even though we had just moved in and hadn't even announced the change, customer traffic was very good," said CEO Ron O'Dell. "Our customers are excited about the new showroom. It will give us a very fresh look and a great stage to show our new introductions."

At the spring High Point Market, which opens April 25, the company plans introductions including several five-piece bedrooms at $299 to $499 FOB price points and 15 upholstery groups at $299 to $499 FOB price points for three-piece sets.
