Outstanding rug designs saluted

ATLANTA — The rug industry honored outstanding designs in all price categories with America's Magnificent Carpets Awards during the winter market here.
The judges, comprised of winners of last summer's Retailer of the Year awards, made decisions without knowing the vendor's name. In addition, every retailer who visited the Gallery of Magnificent Carpets could vote for the People's Choice Award.
The latter went to Feizy Rugs for its River Oaks collection, hand-knotted rugs with a suggested retail of $3,000 for a 6 by 9.
In the machine-made category, the jury gave awards to Home Dynamix, AMS Imports, Sphinx by Oriental Weavers and Karastan.
In hand mades, the winners were Safavieh, Nourison, Atlas, Anadol, Feizy, The Pacific Collection and Art Resources.
In special categories, awards went to Nargizian for contemporary design; Eliko, antique; and Oasis by Oriental Weavers/ Sphinx, most innovative.
Awards for showroom design were won by Nourison, Aura, Momeni and Rugs by Robinson.
