MULBERRY, Fla. — Coleman Davis, owner of four Badcock Home Furnishings Centers in central Florida, has been awarded the Wogan S. Badcock Jr. Lifetime Community Award.
The award, named after the Southeast retail chain's late chairman and chief executive officer, is presented annually to a store owner for outstanding community service.
Davis joined Badcock in 1960 as an internal auditor and opened his first store in 1997. Both his parents were Badcock employees. Davis' four stores — in Seffner, Zephyrhills, Plant City and Brandon — employ some 50 people and post about $7.5 million in annual sales.
He serves as chairman and Sunday school teacher for his church and is the current president of the Florida Lion's Camp. Davis also sits on the SunTrust advisory board and the Plant City Athletic Boosters Club. He is a trustee for the South Florida Baptist Hospital.
