SHERBROOKE, Quebec — Claude Pichette has been elected chairman of Shermag, Canada's third-largest residential furniture manufacturer, succeeding the recently retired Serge Racine.
Pichette has been on Shermag's board since 1989. He holds several posts in Quebec's public and quasi-public sectors and has a financial and academic background. He has served as rector of the Université du Québec à Montréal, is director-general of the Armand-Frappier Institute, and has been chief executive officer of two Quebec-based financial institutions.
"I am grateful to Serge Racine, who established Shermag's success over the past 25 years," said Pichette. "He has left us with a company we are all extremely proud of."
