Market Authority taps Covington

HIGH POINT — HIGH POINT — Tammy Covington has been named director of operations for the International Home Furnishings Market Authority, the group that oversees the High Point market.

Covington will assist Market Authority President Judy Mendenhall with a variety of market-related tasks, but initially will concentrate on marketing, lodging and transportation issues, Mendenhall said.

Covington had been a project coordinator for LifeStyle Contract Furnishings since September 2000. Previously, she spent three years as program director for community development for High Point's Communities In Schools program, and was program coordinator for Big Brothers/Big Sisters in Greensboro, N.C.
