By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 20, 2002
NEW YORK — Harounian Rugs International has agreed to make and market rugs under the Royal Doulton brand, the rug resource's first entry into licensing.
Details of the program have not been worked out. Lee Harounian said the move is part of his company's strategy of expanding its merchandise mix.
HRI specializes in high-end, hand-knotted reproductions of museum rugs.
In recent years, the company has added moderately priced hand-tufted and hand-hooked rugs.
Royal Doulton is known for its china, glassware and hand-crafted, limited-edition collectibles.
