HICKORY, N.C. — Century Furniture has promoted John Perry and Roger Jones to new positions in global sourcing and logistics, moves it said reflect the company's strategic focus.
Perry, who was director of information technology, now is vice president and chief information officer. Jones was promoted from director of procurement and planning to vice president of global logistics.
"Our information technology and global sourcing strategies provide our dealers with compelling advantages and have allowed us to improve service, reduce transaction costs and further our alliances with major suppliers," said Bob Maricich, Century's president and chief executive officer.
Jones, who worked on the successful launch of Century's Destinations import program, is an engineer by training who has been with the company since 1978.
Perry, who is credited with implementation of SAP business software at Century with resulting benefits to dealers and employees, was a senior consultant and manager at Ernst & Young before joining the furniture maker in 1997.
