FMCA credit services now open to AFMA accessory members
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 20, 2002
HIGH POINT — Decorative accessory members of the American Furniture Manufacturers Assn. are now eligible to become associate members of the Furniture Manufacturers Credit Assn.
The new service began Jan. 1. AFMA members pay a one-time application fee of $100 and annual dues.
The credit association has previously accepted only furniture manufacturers as members and changed its bylaws to admit the accessory companies.
FMCA helps manufacturers with the interchange of credit information, timely collections and protection from excessive credit risks. In addition to credit reports and collection services, it also offers educational programs for credit executives and staff, and hosts meetings during the spring and fall High Point markets.
Nancy High, the AFMA vice president who manages the decorative accessory division, said, "We are very pleased to be able to offer this new service to our decorative accessory members. They have indicated to us that it will be an enormous benefit for their businesses. And FMCA's change in its bylaws is an additional indication of the significance of the decorative accessory segment of the home furnishings industry."
