GREENSBORO, N.C. — Keith Koenig, president of innovative Top 100 retailer City Furniture, will present the keynote address at the 2002 SoHo Today conference, scheduled for March 21 and 22 at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons.
Based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., City Furniture is in the process of greatly expanding its presence in the home office category. In his presentation — "Keys to SOHO Success" — Koenig will discuss the opportunities presented by SOHO and share insights into how City approaches this fast-growing category.
Geared to retailers and manufacturers of small office/home office furniture, the SoHo Today conference — themed "Strategies for Growth" — will feature three retail panel discussions focused on how to spark SOHO sales during today's challenging business conditions.
The furniture store panel features Bob Seroka, Billy Bob's Gameroom Furniture, Royal Oak, Mich.; John Iasiello, Breuners Home Furnishings, Lancaster, Pa.; MaryLou Tyler, HOM Furniture, Coon Rapids, Minn.; and Judy Phillips, Furnitureland South, High Point.
The mid-market dealer panel features John Romano, MacThrift, Greensboro, N.C.; Ken Millsaps, Castleberry Office Furnishings, Atlanta; and Jerry Birch, SOHO Superior, Cleveland.
The RTA specialty store panel features Mike Simcox, Express Furniture, Akron, Ohio; Tom Schutte, Furniture Solutions, Wilder, Ky.; and Scott Karoll, Furniture Zone, Downers Grove, Ill. The conference also will include panel discussions on the resurgence of interest in telecommuting, trends in home design and office design, and how to sell ergonomics.
The telecommuting panel will feature Gil Gordon of Gil Gordon Associates, Gail Smith of Schering-Plough and Mike Arents of Herman Miller for the Home.
The panel discussion on ergonomics will feature Mark Benden of Neutral Posture Ergonomics and Cliff Levin or Gary Martin of Healthy Back in Lorton, Va.
The changing home design/office design panel will feature Gale Steves, former editor of Home magazine; Jeff Schutte of Turnstone; and Tony Cantrell of TurnKey Products.
In addition, Connie Post of Connie Post Designs will conduct a session on making an impact with merchandising and display.
During the conference, SoHo Today also will present its first-ever SOHO Manufacturer of the Year and SOHO Retailer of the Year awards.
