Omnia gears up to meet growing motion demand
By Joan Gunin -- Furniture Today, January 13, 2002
CHINO, Calif. — Stationary and motion producer Omnia Leather will expand its plant here to keep pace with growing demand for motion seating.
The current 15,000-square-foot facility will get a 30,000-square-foot addition, expected to increase motion production 15%.
"Our motion furniture sales increased by 33% in 2001," said Peter Zolferino, Omnia's vice president of sales and marketing. He projects 25% total growth in 2002.
Omnia plans to add a design and product development manager, he said.
Introduction last spring of Cinema Seating, Omnia's home entertainment/motion collection, proved pivotal in dictating the need for expansion, Zolferino said.
At the San Francisco market, Omnia will introduce the casual Island Collection, incorporating basket weave leather and solid-patterned leather on stationary seating to create a two-tone effect.
