Bolick leaves Alexvale for new venture

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — Former Alexvale executive Tim Bolick has left the upholstery manufacturer to start his own upholstery and imported products company.
Bolick is president and owner of the new company, Paladin Inds., which will manufacture chairs covered in both fabric and leather. The company, which Bolick founded with his brother, David, also will import occasional furniture, and teak and mahogany doors and flooring from China and Indonesia.
"My brother and I own retail outlets (Hickory Park Furniture Galleries) in Hickory and High Point, so I've always worked for myself or family," Bolick said. "This is something that I've always wanted to do."
Bolick was senior vice president of sales and marketing for Alexvale, a La-Z-Boy company, for 10 years before leaving in late December. His father, Charles, was president and chief executive officer of Alexvale until his retirement in March 2001.
The younger Bolick said he is looking for space to show his initial offerings at the April furniture market in High Point.
