Magnussen helps TIGERS
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 13, 2002
HIGH POINT — Buyers at the Magnussen Presidential showroom for the October market are unlikely to forget three "special guests" — two 10-week-old Siberian tiger cubs and a 4-week-old Iyger, a cross between a lion and a tiger.
The cubs were in the showroom as part of a fund-raiser for The Institute of Greatly Endangered and Rare Species, or TIGERS. Visitors were encouraged to have their picture taken with the cubs, and the photos raised $20,000 for the organization.
"We were pleased to create some fun and excitement by being involved with this foresighted organization dedicated to the preservation of threatened wildlife," said Jeff Cook, president of the Ontario-based resource for occasional tables and home accent furniture.
The cubs also were there to help introduce the new Magnussen Presidential bedroom division.
Magnussen reported that showroom traffic was up 10% and market orders up 20% over the April market.
