Carroll chairs HPU advisory board
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 13, 2002
HIGH POINT — Joe Carroll, publisher of Furniture/Today, has been elected chairman of the Home Furnishings Advisory Board of High Point University.
He succeeds longtime chairman Clarence Smith, chief operating officer of Havertys.
The advisory board also announced two scholarship funds for students in the school's home furnishings department.
They are the Bill Peterson Memorial Scholarship, which has some $100,000 in pledges so far, and the $3 million Celia Moh Scholarship.
The Peterson scholarship was established by friends and family members of the late Bill Peterson, founding editor of Furniture/Today.
The Moh scholarship, created by Universal Furniture founder Laurence Moh in honor of his wife, also is available to students at certain other schools.
