Specialty Sleep Expo set for March in Chicago
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 10, 2002
Chicago — The Futon and Specialty Sleep Expo is heading for the Windy City this March, hoping to make attendance easy for the area's large concentration of furniture retailers.
The show moves from Las Vegas last year to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill., near O'Hare Airport. It runs March 21-23.
"The Expo is unique in that, since partnering with the Futon Assn. International to stage the only one-stop trade show focused on the specialty sleep category, the show has rotated venues around the country," said Denny Boyd, president of the Specialty Sleep Assn. By moving the show around, it gives as many retailers as possible a chance to shorten the distance they travel, he said.
"Retailers focused on specialty sleep — latex, foam, flotation, air and adjustable beds — as well as those looking for ways to differentiate their stores won't want to miss the opportunity that the Expo affords to capitalize on the category," said Boyd.
Exhibitors include manufacturers of a range of specialty sleep products, as well as makers of futon frames, mattresses and covers.
Along with buying and networking opportunities, retailers also can attend educational programs headlined by store designer and brand development guru Connie Post and author and motivational speaker Peggy McNamara. Also scheduled are workshops on marketing and customer service and a variety of roundtable discussions.
For details including seminars and events, an exhibitor list, and accommodations, visit the Futon Assn. International Web site at www.futonexpo.net or call Expo Manager Tambra Jones at (559) 868-4184, or the Specialty Sleep Assn. headquarters at (336) 889-6176.
