Winnipeg, Manitoba — Palliser Furniture honored outstanding employees at the manufacturer's annual recognition event.
Phil Toews, national accounts service representative for Manitoba and Saskatchewan, was named winner of the Customer Care Award.
Patrik Coe, a team facilitator at Palliser's Logic Division, received the Innovation Award for developing, testing and implementing the spin table as part of the packing process. The table has eliminated back injuries and muscle strains, reducing Workers Compensation claims and associated costs by over $50,000 a year at the division.
Wilma Nicol, a team leader in the Delta Division, was given the Palliser Community Award. She was recognized for her willingness to help co-workers and for her fund-raising efforts.
The A.A. DeFehr Award went to Paul Hiebert, director of space planning in Palliser's marketing department, for his work with Habitat for Humanity.
The DeFehr Award commemorates the company founder's commitment to community service. Hiebert chose Habitat for Humanity to receive the $2,000 award from the DeFehr Foundation.
