MONTERREY, Mexico — Famsa, one of Mexico's largest furniture retailers, has begun selling via the Internet.
Currently the Spanish-language Web site, famsa.com, does not include furniture but does offer an assortment of mattresses, including product from Sealy and Spring Air. Famsa also sells a full range of white goods, electronics, clothing and other products for the home.
Consumers can pay for merchandise ordered on the Web by credit card or cash on delivery.
Famsa plans to have 273 stores in Mexico and the United States and sales around US$705 million by the end of the year. Furniture represents about 22% of sales.
Early this year, Famsa opened its first U.S. store in the Los Angeles metro area, targeting the Hispanic market. The retailer plans to have four Los Angeles-area stores open by year's end.
