Survey: Living room No.1
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, December 2, 2001
SUDBURY, Mass. — The living room edged the bedroom as the destination of choice in a recent survey conducted by FurnitureFan.com, an Internet marketing services company.
More than 1,000 people from around the country answered the question, "What is your favorite room in your house/apartment?"
Living room received 35.4% of the votes, followed by bedroom with 31.4%; family room, 15.2%; kitchen, 14.2%; and dining room, 3.8%.
"Given these stressful times we are all enduring, it only makes sense to see two rooms that traditionally offer peace and solitude to lead the rankings," said Mitch Russo, chief executive officer of FurnitureFan.com. "Not surprisingly, those respondents who provided additional comments to describe their favorite room used comfort words such as 'haven,' 'calming' and 'serene'."
Russo said that before the survey, he thought the kitchen would make a better showing.
