HIGH POINT — David Preuss, executive vice president of marketing and sales for Good Cos., has been elected president of the Young Home Furnishings Executives, succeeding Greg White, vice president of merchandising at La-Z-Boy.
Other new officers are Troy Lerew, vice president of retail operations for Breuners Home Furnishings Corp., Lancaster, Pa., first vice president; Erick Ellsweig, senior vice president for Covington Upholstery Fabrics, second vice president; and Mark Nelson, audit partner, BDO Seidman, treasurer.
Preuss said he hopes the YHFE can continue to grow and serve the industry.
"We currently have over 300 members and we look to provide a focal point for the industry's young talent network, and discuss the industry's concerns and opportunities," Preuss said. "We are very proud of what we've accomplished in our first two years."
YHFE introduced its summer internship program for college students this year and hopes to expand it next summer, he said. The organization also launched a Web site (www.yhfe.org) and has held social and educational events at High Point markets.
"Our hope is that in an industry that has had difficulties in attracting young talent, we can help make at least a small difference," said Preuss.
