Aspenhome launches new Arizona warehouse

Phoenix — Phoenix— Officials with Aspenhome said it is only fitting that it lists the names of 1,038 retailers who carry its products on a prominent wall display inside its new warehouse here.
"We have an opportunity to differentiate our brand by having more of the product retailers want, more of the time and with more effective land support," said Bill Colegrove, CEO of the company. "Retailers really want to hear that we can support their businesses better than ever before."
At 323,000 square feet, the facility is about 140,000 square feet larger than the former Phoenix location Aspenhome occupied for a decade. The new warehouse also houses the company's new corporate headquarters.
Inventory management technology at the warehouse will process orders faster, more accurately and with less product damage, said Ted Raiman, executive vice president of supply chain management and logistics.
Orders are tracked through a paperless radio frequency system and a color-coded pallet system to more quickly deliver products to locations in the warehouse, he said.
The facility can handle about 500 containers, up from 250 at the former warehouse, Raiman said. The new warehouse's 32-foot ceilings are about 11 feet higher than at the former quarters. It also has more than 40 shipping docks on three sides, up from six docks at the former site.
To staff the facility, Aspenhome has added about eight employees to give it a work force of 30 workers.
The new warehouse uses a combination of drive-in racking, select and stack racking.
The new capabilities will help the company implement the quick-ship program it started last year called ASAP, an acronym for Aspenhome Ships as Priority, to get furniture to retailers anywhere in the United States in 10 days or less from the warehouse.
