By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, November 25, 2001
GLEN RAVEN, N.C. — Glen Raven has sold two of its yarn plants in Alamance County, N.C., to yarn supplier National Spinning. National acquired the business and about 200 employees associated with the plants, an open-end yarn spinning facility and a package-dye facility.
The deal will be transparent to Glen Raven's residential upholstery fabric customers, according to Suzie Roberts, sales manager, residential upholstery.
"We are still going strong with what we are doing. We're continuing to introduce Sunbrella fabrics for indoor residential applications and will have an exciting collection of new product at Showtime in January," she said.
Glen Raven retains one yarn plant in Alamance County and two others in Kingston and Norlina, N.C., and will continue to sell ring-spun and other yarn products to the home furnishings, industrial, automotive and apparel markets.
