RTA divisions include Ridgewood and Ameriwood; home furnishings divisions are Cosco and Dorel Home Products. Producer of the Sealy line of futons. Ranking based on sales of its RTA furniture and home furnishings divisions, and on sales of cribs and related items by its juvenile division. Revenue for 2000 was US$757.5 million, a 26.9% advance over US$596.7 million in 1999. RTA sales were US$245.7 million in 2000, 3% higher than in 1999. In 2000, opened a second leather plant in Mexico. In April 2001, opened 220 Elm, a showroom complex in High Point. Major dealers in Canada include The Brick, Leon's and Sears Canada; in the United States, Levitz, JCPenney and Wickes. Shipments to the United States accounted for 62.5% of sales last year, making it this country's largest single exporter of household furniture to the United States. Projected 2001 sales, C$480 million.

Publicly owned producer of bedroom, dining room, home office, occasional, glider rockers and high-end fabric contemporary and leather upholstery. Revenues based on the trailing 12 months ended Dec. 29, 2000. Sales for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2000 were C$144.4 million, a 19.7% increase from the previous year. Shipments to the United States accounted for 77% of the company's sales in fiscal 1999-2000. In 2000, hired Jeff Casselman as president and chief operating officer. Also launched a stationary leather upholstery division, and opened a 35,000-square-foot veneer plant in Lennoxville, Quebec. Moved into a 25,000-square-foot showroom in High Point's International Home Furnishings Center for the April 2001 market. Divisions include Nadeau, Scotstown, Shermag Leather, HPL Furniture, Bedard, Chandéric/Conant Ball and S.I./Sofas International. Also operates three sawmills and the veneer plant.

Prior to 2000, had four years of double-digit sales gains. Major Canadian dealers include Wal-Mart Canada, BMTC, Business Depot and The Brick.

The bedding and upholstery producer is a wholly owned subsidiary of SCI Income Trust. Closed its plant in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in Nov. 2000 after completing expansion of its facility in Calgary, Alberta. Also operates factories in Delta, British Columbia; Brampton, Ontario; and Kirkland, Quebec, where a lengthy labor dispute was recently settled. Also has a distribution center in Regina, Saskatchewan. Currently operates eight free-standing and 42 in-store Simmons bedding galleries. Opened the eighth gallery store in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, in May 2001. Has a perpetual license agreement with Simmons U.S. and is active in private label, making such bedding brands as Sears-O-Pedic and Ikea. Also makes and distributes the ObusForme line of mattresses and foundations under license. Makes sofa-sleepers and stationary upholstery under the Hide-A-Bed Convertible Sofa and Guild House labels.

Shipments to the United States account for 85% of sales. Projected 2001 sales, C$130 million.
