Wall new HickoryMark president
By Gary Evans -- Furniture Today, December 16, 2001
MONROE, Mich. — Former This End Up and American Drew executive James A "Jim" Wall has been named president of La-Z-Boy's Mississippi-based HickoryMark upholstery division.
He succeeds Mark Gosnell, who left the company after three years as president.
Wall most recently was general manager with forest products giant Georgia Pacific in Atlanta. Previously, he was with now-defunct manufacturer-retailer This End Up Furniture from 1984 to 1999 in a variety of positions, leaving as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Wall began his career with Burlington House Furniture in 1965, and also was a division manager for American Drew, a Ladd company and now part of La-Z-Boy, from 1979 to 1984.
He has served on the board of the American Furniture Manufacturers Assn. and also is a board member of the Furniture Foundation of North Carolina State University.
"Jim Wall is a thoroughly proven furniture industry executive with over 30 years hands-on experience in all aspects of the furniture business, including logistics, purchasing, manufacturing and overall management responsibility," said John Case, president of the La-Z-Boy Upholstery Group. "We are delighted that Jim has agreed to join our organization, and anticipate that he will be instrumental in increasing the size and profitability of our HickoryMark upholstery brand over the years ahead."
HickoryMark has plants in Sherman and Myrtle, Miss., and employs about 400 people. The company makes fabric and leather upholstered furniture in the medium price points.
