ENNIS, Texas — Fashion Bed Group, the nation's largest ornamental bed resource, is gearing up to begin shipments from its new distribution center here, the Leggett & Platt company's fifth such facility.
The 140,000-square-foot center in this town 40 miles south of Dallas will begin shipments early next year. It will serve Fashion Bed Group customers in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.
"The addition of the Ennis facility marks another step in Fashion Bed Group's goal to provide more efficient service and faster delivery," said President Ron Ainsworth.
Service will be phased in on a state-by-state basis over the next four to six months. The region served by the new Ennis facility previously was covered by the Chicago distribution center.
The Ennis operation will give the company total distribution space of more than 600,000 square feet. Other distribution facilities are located in Whittier, Calif., Houston, and London, Ontario.
The new distribution center will be managed by Todd Freeman, who previously managed the Leggett & Platt/Fashion Bed Group Houston Service Center.
