Retailers honored with top GNYHFA awards

NEW YORK — More than 300 people attended the Greater New York Home Furnishings Assn.'s annual dinner/dance, which featured the presentation of the group's Jerry Gans Memorial Award for distinguished service, along with the David Druckman Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sharing the Gans Award were Sal Alamia, founder of American Furniture in Brooklyn, and Fash-a-Home Furniture Distributors, a 50-member retailing group.

Honored posthumously with the Druckman Award were Louis and Ruth Euster, founders of the legendary Yellow Barn furniture store in Armonk, N.Y.

The event benefited people with learning and developmental disabilities, and the family of a firefighter who died in the Sept. 11 attacks.
