Toronto winter market renamed
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 28, 2001
TORONTO — The winter market here has been renamed The Canadian Home Furnishings Market, reflecting its status as this country's only national furniture event.
The 2002 show is set for Jan. 12-15 at the Toronto International Center of Commerce.
"This event showcases the full spectrum of furniture that's made in Canada," said Jean François Michaud, executive vice president of the Quebec Furniture Manufacturers Assn., which organizes the Toronto markets. "It's time to give the show a name that reflects its unique nature."
The market also has a new Web address, www.tchfm.com.
Michaud said the QFMA aggressively is promoting the show to U.S. retailers. More than 450 manufacturers are expected to exhibit in January.
No decision has been made on changing the name of the Toronto summer market, which is more regional in nature. "We're still working on how we will position that show in terms of its name," Michaud said.
