ROSEMONT , Ill. — Bedding producer Restonic has named Northwestern University professor John Ward and former Serta executive Peter Gennett to its board of directors.
The two join Mort Kamien, also a Northwestern University professor, on Restonic's three-person board. Kamien recently was elevated to the chairman's slot following the retirement of the late Steve Kneeland, a bedding industry veteran who had been Restonic's chairman since 1995.
Steve Overby, who had been on the board since 1993, also stepped down recently.
Ward is a professor in Northwestern's Kellogg School of Business and is an expert on management of family-owned businesses. Gennett is the former owner of Sleepmaster, now Serta's largest licensee.
Restonic President Ed Scott said Ward's expertise makes him a natural for the board, since most of Restonic's licensees are family owned. He said Gennett's experience as a Serta licensee will be valuable in helping licensees grow their businesses. -
