Jim Clark, Fairfield Chair
LENOIR, N.C. — Jim Clark, a longtime executive with Fairfield Chair Co., died Sept. 22 after suffering a heart attack in Chapel Hill, N.C. He was 61.
Clark joined Fairfield Chair in 1978 as director of marketing and was later promoted to vice president of marketing. Before that, he worked for Southern Desk and Conover Chair.
Survivors include his wife and two sons.

DALLAS — Steve Kneeland, a veteran mattress industry executive who most recently was chairman of Restonic, died Sept. 20 while vacationing in Italy.
Kneeland, 62, spent more than 30 years in the mattress industry. He joined Sealy in 1968 as a sales representative for its Fort Worth, Texas, licensee and later held a series of sales and management posts. In 1986 he was named president of Sealy, then part of the Ohio Mattress Co.
Kneeland remained as Sealy's president until 1989, when the company was taken private in a leveraged buyout.
He retired shortly after the LBO, but came out of retirement in 1995 to be chairman of Restonic, a part-time post he held until earlier this year.
A native of Dallas, Kneeland had lived in Destin, Fla., since leaving Sealy. He is survived by his wife, four children and two grandchildren. The funeral was held in Dallas.

Robert Schultz, longtime retailer
ERIE, Pa. — Retailer Robert C. Schultz, 81, chairman of Arthur F. Schultz Co. here, died Sept. 23 at his home.
Schultz, the son of Arthur F. Schultz, graduated from Staunton Military Academy and earned the Bronze Star in World War II. After his military service, he spent his entire career at Arthur F. Schultz here and still served as board chairman.
He is survived by a daughter and two sons.
