New At Market: RTA

All prices retail • In-depth stories on RTA introductions will appear in Furniture/Today's opening-day issue

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, September 30, 2001

PRODUCT TRENDS

  • CONSERVATIVE APPROACH: This is not the time to look for radical innovation from most flat-pack furniture makers. RTA business softened about a year ago, and producers and retailers alike are looking to assemble a few winners.

  • PROMOTIONAL TO MODERATE: Two years ago, the RTA arena was brimming with high-end entertainment and office configurations. Some of those groups are still in production, but their ranks aren't swelling now. Most new product will retail for $249 and under.

  • STICK WITH A WINNER: The most popular finish papers are covering more products this fall as the industry looks to see whether they have the legs to run a few more laps.
