Hot looks at Decosit

BRUSSELS, Belgium — Red-orange, purple and deep brown were the most notable colors among the new fabric offerings at Decosit 2001.

Shine, from subtle effects to glossy, almost-liquid looks, was the most notable trend, closely followed by plaids — particularly those inspired by the current hot apparel looks such as Burberry plaids.

Buyers were drawn to rich colors like this gleaming orange introduction from Wearbest Sil-Tex, which took trends awards at Decosit.

Monkey Promenade, a high-end tissue pick novelty jacquard of cotton and polyester, was a hit for Metropolis Fabrics, a year-old American company with a mill in South Carolina

Satin Textiles, a Thai mill expanding its market reach in North America, won trend awards at Decosit for introductions including Bungern, the upholstery fabric shown here on the right.

Standing out from the crowd were organic greens, such as these rayon and polyester chenilles from Dicitex Décor, a 40-year-old Indian mill aiming for the U.S. market.

Inspired by the movie "Chocolat," this chocolate-and-mint combination features silky trims from Houles on velvet by Blafo.
