Kimball Int'l expects earnings between nine and 13 cents
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, September 30, 2001
JASPER, Ind. — JASPER, Ind. — Kimball International, parent of Kimball Home Furniture, said it expects earnings per Class B common share in the range of nine to 13 cents for the quarter ended Sept. 30. This compares with 28 cents in the same quarter a year ago.
The company's estimate includes restructuring costs, expected to reduce earnings by about one cent per share.
Kimball said the recent terrorist attacks could have a negative effect on sales and earnings. The company also projects continued margin pressure driven by slower sales, a shift to lower-margin products and startup inefficiencies associated with new products.
