MMPI plans to mark opening of Plaza Suites, host Internet Cafe

HIGH POINT — Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. will host a full schedule of special events during the fall International Home Furnishings Market here.

Thursday, Oct. 18

• 10 a.m.-noon, Plaza Suites grand opening brunch. Market buyers are invited to celebrate the grand opening of Plaza Suites at a buffet brunch.

• 4-6 p.m., Market Square and Suites at Market Square party. Retailers are invited to relax and enjoy cocktails and hors d'oeuvres after their market rounds.

• 4-6 p.m., Market Square Ground daiquiri party. Buyers can relax and have a refreshing frozen daiquiri and hors d'oeuvres.

• 6-8 p.m., Home Accents Today/Market Square courtyard party. Attendees can enjoy food, cocktails and a chance to mingle with colleagues. Co-sponsored by Home Accents Today and MMPI.

Friday, Oct. 19

• 4-7 p.m., cocktails at Hamilton Market. Buyers are invited to have a drink, hors d'oeuvres and relax.

• 4-6 p.m., Market Square Ground daiquiri party.

• Saturday, Oct. 20

• 4-6 p.m., Market Square Ground daiquiri party.

Sunday, Oct. 21

• 4-6 p.m., Market Square Ground daiquiri party.

Internet Café

In association with Furniture/Today, Home Accents Today and SoHo Today, MMPI is offering an Internet Café. Located on the first floor of the Suites at Market Square, the Café sports 12 terminals wired with either DSL or Roadrunner service to provide extremely fast, free Internet access to anyone attending market.

Throughout the market, buyers and manufacturers can visit the Internet Café to check their e-mail, stock quotes, news or other information.

Gateway and its associates will provide connectivity and technical support for the facility's computer hardware.

Buyers can use the Internet to scroll through product category offerings throughout MMPI buildings. This new feature will help attendees find out where different product is located, along with who carries it, making it easier to locate product at market.
