Des Plaines, Ill. — Longtime bedding industry executive Les Ayers, who left Simmons nearly two years ago during a management shakeup, has joined rival Spring Air as president of that company's Los Angeles facility.
He will have bottom-line responsibility for all operations, sales and marketing aspects of the facility, officially known as Spring Air Partners-California.
The Los Angeles operation is one of several plants owned by Spring Air Partners-North America, Spring Air's largest licensee.
"Les is a leader who inspires change through dynamic motivation and team building," said Dan Sullivan, president of Spring Air Partners-North America.
Ayers is taking the post formerly held by Earl Kluft, who now oversees product development for all plants overseen by Sullivan's company. Ayers worked for Simmons from 1973 until late 1999. His last post was executive vice president of sales, and previously he was vice president and general manager of the company's Los Angeles plant.
