Calligaris to debut new space at premarket
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, September 9, 2001
HIGH POINT — Buyers at premarket will get a look at Italian case goods manufacturer Calligaris' new 4,000-square-foot showroom in space 524 of the Hamilton Wing in the International Home Furnishings Center.
"The showroom will be almost completely ready for premarket," said Emanuele Corvo, national sales manager.
The new showroom caps several years of big growth in the United States, where the company has doubled sales since 1999 and tripled its customer base. Driving that growth were two distribution centers in High Point and San Leandro, Calif., an expanded sales force for national coverage, a quick-ship program and local customer service.
The company said it currently exceeds $100 million a year in shipments from its three plants in Italy.
Calligaris this year took over direct management of its Canadian distribution, serving the West out of San Leandro and eastern Canada out of High Point. On May 1, the East and West coast distribution centers began warehousing the same items for the company's quick-ship program.
Calligaris, which already has ISO 9001 certification, is working on ISO 14001 designation.
