GREENSBORO, N.C. — About 90 people from the industry attended a Rhodes-sponsored golf tournament here, raising $12,000 for the City of Hope.
The event was organized by Rhodes store managers in its Division II, covering stores in North Carolina and South Carolina.
Among those attending the event in Bryan Park were Rhodes President Bill Kimbrell and Steve Kincaid, president of Kincaid Furniture. The two are this year's City of Hope Spirit of Life honorees, to be recognized at an awards dinner this October in High Point.
City of Hope is a research and treatment center for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Funds raised in connection with this year's award are targeted for breast cancer research.
Division II Manager Todd Hady thanked store managers in the 15-store division for putting together the golf fundraiser, which was a three- to four-month project. The managers contributed money and contacted suppliers to ask them to participate and contribute.
