MacGregor joins OFMA

TORONTO — Industry veteran Kathryn MacGregor has been named director of member services for the Ontario Furniture Manufacturers Assn.
She succeeds Linda Smith, who has joined Canadian upholstery maker Jaymar Furniture.
A longtime furniture buyer for Sears Canada, MacGregor also held senior management posts with Décor-Rest and the Conant Ball/Chanderic division of Shermag before joining White Rose Home & Garden Centers as home décor buyer.
"I'm very happy to be back in the industry," she said. "This will be a very challenging position."
MacGregor will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the factory association and its programs, including the 2002 Trillium Awards competition.
OFMA President Gerry Cockerill said the group still is working on a long-range strategic plan and that it's too soon to announce projects. A meeting is set for late November to get suggestions from OFMA members.
Cockerill said talks have been held with Canada's two other factory groups, the Quebec Furniture Manufacturers Assn. and Furniture West, on matters of common interest.
