ITASCA, Ill. — ITASCA, Ill. — Bedding major Serta has signed a licensing agreement with textile giant Springs Inds. to produce a line of Serta-brand mattress pads, bed pillows and sheets.
The new program, unveiled at the New York Home Textiles Market, is Serta's first effort to put its name on textiles and related products.
"Serta and Springs share a strong commitment to brand-building and a far-reaching reputation for outstanding quality," said Susan Ebaugh, Serta's vice president of advertising. "This will be a dynamic relationship."
Springs, which is based in Fort Mill, S.C., has annual sales of $2.3 billion. Its best-known brand names are Springmaid and Wamsutta.
"Combining Springs' quality products and strong retail distribution with Serta's significant brand recognition will bring retailers a unique opportunity for the consumer," said Leslie Gillock, vice president for brand management at Springs.
