New software helps manage damaged goods
By Jeff Linville -- Furniture Today, October 14, 2001
MARTINSVILLE, Va. — CorrectLink, a new software product from Sitestar Applied Technologies here, aims to help importers manage handling of flawed merchandise.
The software tracks damaged goods while allowing users to assemble data on which items are most likely to be damaged, what the problems are, and from whom the most damaged goods are received.
With imports growing, quality is a big concern, said Pat Lane, Sitestar's director of sales. Problems range from water damage during shipping to improper drying of raw wood, he said.
Three years ago, Sitestar developed a quality control system for Lexington Furniture. From that came CorrectLink. Lane said it can sort problems by suite, manufacturer or supplier. A retailer with a faulty item can trace it back to the source, then send a report to the appropriate person, he said.
Users need not operate other Sitestar software in order to use CorrectLink.
Sitestar, formerly Neocom, provides Internet access to businesses as well as consulting services for Web management and information systems. It has designed Web sites for such companies as American of Martinsville, Eagle Inds., Jackson/Catnapper and Stanley.
