By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 14, 2001
MANCHESTER, N.H. — CCA Global Partners, the big floor coverings cooperative that includes Carpet One and Flooring America stores, has expanded into the broader home furnishings arena with the acquisition of Ilucio, an alliance of lighting stores.
Based in Chattanooga, Tenn., Ilucio is a network of 65 independently owned lighting and home accent retailers in 29 states. In addition to residential lighting, many stores carry mirrors, accent furniture, wall art and tabletop items.
"The purchase of Ilucio is part of our on-going strategy to be a dominant player in home furnishings," said Howard Brodsky, co-chief executive officer of CCA Global Partners. "Residential lighting is a natural complement to our flooring business."
The purchase price wasn't disclosed.
Ilucio projects sales in 2001 of about $106 million. Jeff Carmichael will continue as Ilucio president and Ken Freedman will remain vice president.
