A woman's touch at La-Z-Boy

MONROE, Mich. — What do women want? A recliner tailored to feminine preferences, according to La-Z-Boy and consultant Faith Popcorn.
The company has signed an agreement with trend forecaster Popcorn to produce a line of recliners made for women, to debut at the October High Point market.
Her marketing firm, BrainReserve, researched the features women look for in reclining chairs and used the results of the survey to design the new collection. The line will be based on "cocooning," a Popcorn-coined term that refers to the desire to surround oneself with warmth, comfort and tranquility at home.
Stephanie Dimarzio, La-Z-Boy product manager for major upholstery, said the chairs will be "designed by women for women." The line will offer more contemporary looks and better fabrics than the standard recliner line, medium-sized scaling, and optional features such as a sleek side pocket and a simple attached table.
"Women have very specific furniture requirements, and together with Faith Popcorn we plan to provide a line of recliners that delivers what women have told us they want in a chair," said Greg White, vice president of merchandising.
