Cohen's signs with Storis

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, September 17, 2001

Seven-store Illinois chain Cohen's Furniture Co. has signed with software provider Storis Management Systems.

Cohen's has been in business in Peoria Heights, Ill., for more than a century. The company has five stores under the Cohen's name, two Ethan Allen Interiors stores and a 125,000-square-foot warehouse.

The company's 2000 revenue reached $39 million, $36.5 million of that in furniture sales. Cohen's plans to open two stores in the next two years.

"In order to meet our future needs, we needed a state-of-the-art system," said Dick Graf, Cohen's president and chief executive officer. "After analyzing numerous software vendors, we decided on Storis, a system with remarkable simplicity that will assist us in remaining on the cutting edge of technology."

In addition to the basic retail management system, Cohen's also selected Storis Messenger (e-mail), FGII Report Writer, and the Storis MicroD Point-of-Sale Interface, which enables retailers to download finalized special-order product and pricing information established using MicroD's video catalog software.

Graf plans to add Storis' Radio Frequency Bar Code capabilities in 2002.
