Taking license

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 14, 2002

Licensed collections continue to grow as producers connect the dots between product and well-known names with star status. Successful lines adding pieces include Bob Timberlake, Chris Madden, Susan Sargent, Alexander Julian and Jessica McClintock. New and recently introduced lines include Kathy Ireland, Elvis Presley, Dick Idol and Bev Doolittle.

ON PAR Last fall, Hooker earned the license to make case goods for the PGA Tour Homes collection. The company now is expanding its offering including home entertainment and occasional furniture. IHFC W1047
GREAT OUTDOORS Artist Bev Doolittle has created more works for her licensed collection through Riverside Furniture. New to American Spirit is this small table with hand-applied nature scene. Also being introduced are new tables, an executive desk, computer credenza and storage deck. IHFC C302
BRANCHING OUT Vaughan's Country French Garden by Pamela Scurry, with a finish based on one of Scurry's own antiques, adds dining and master bedroom to the licensed youth bedroom introduced earlier. IHFC M810
SOUTHERN EXPOSURE Ficks Reed rolls out its 26-piece Historic Natchez Collection, recapturing the graciousness of the Old South under license from the Historic Natchez Foundation. Dining chair in rattan/leather inspired by those found in Texada. HM 119
BATTING CLEANUP After a lead-off home run at the October market and strong early marks at retail, Klaussner follows up this week with additions to the Dick Idol Home collection, including the Glacier bed shown here. 405 Lewallen Rd., Asheboro
