    AHMI
    HIGH POINT —Gary White , president of Gilbert Lumber Co., has begun a two-year term as president of trade group Appalachian Hardwood Manufacturers Inc.
    Other newly elected officers are Ed Ramsey, Taylor-Ramsey, president-elect; John Crites, Allegheny Wood Products, vice president of finance; and Jim C. Hamer, Jim C. Hamer Co., past president.

    Moren Oriental
    NUTLEY, N.J. —Howard M. Cohen has been named vice president of sales and marketing for rug resource Moren Oriental. He has 20 years experience in the floor coverings business, and most recently was associated with Harounian Rugs International.
    Spring Air-Grand Rapids
    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. —Arvel Posey has joined Spring Air-Grand Rapids as vice president of sales.
    A 20-year mattress industry veteran, he has held sales and marketing posts with several majors, most recently as a key account executive for Simmons in Los Angeles.

    Arbek Furniture
    Chino, Calif. — Case goods resource Arbek Furniture has named 14 sales representatives.
    Joe Bernaert of Joe Bernaert Enterprises will cover California, Nevada and Utah. Rick Freedman of Richard Freedman & Associates will handle Florida, and Bruce Jacobsen will be the rep in Texas.
    Robert Marcus will be responsible for Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Dan Ewing will cover Montana, South Dakota, Idaho and Wyoming. David Gerda is covering Texas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Iowa, Montana, Nebraska and Kansas.
    Glenn Lott is representing the company in Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and the Florida panhandle. Marcus Mignone is working Massachussetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. Russell McFalls is repping in North Dakota, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Mike Ryan is handling New Mexico and Arizona.
    Phil Traynor is serving Havertys and Denise Ogurkis is covering Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. Greg Stanek is covering Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and West Pennsylvania. Ed Viglione is repping in Colorado, Wyoming and Utah.

    TRINITY, N.C. — Sealy Inc. recently honored 13 outstanding managers and salespeople with a five-day trip to the Four Seasons Resort in Scottsdale, Ariz.
    The annual Chairman's Award Trip is given to salespeople who achieve three consecutive years of excellent sales performance, and to operations, finance and marketing managers with outstanding accomplishments.
    The winners of the 2002 trip are Jack Cohen, Carmen Dabiero, Craig Dunlop, Ray Fleckenstein, David Hauxwell, Michael Hennessy, Simon Jervis, Dave Kilgour, Tracey McSherry, Ron Morgan, Rebecca Woods, Mark Wozniak and Michelle Young.

    Robb & Stucky
    FORT MYERS, Fla. — Retailer Robb & Stucky has appointed two women to new positions.
    Carol Steed has been named human resources assistant at the corporate office. She has managed the payroll for the company since 1998 and replaces Lynn Cheever, who was promoted to human resources coordinator in November.
    Linda Garner has been named marketing director for the company's Fort Myers location. She replaces Renee Gipson, who left the company in December.
    In her new position, Garner will manage the DesignLine Realtor program and will oversee community relations, special events and public relations for the Fort Myers showroom and design studio. Garner was previously director of sales and marketing at Guardian Title here, and owned Garner Publishing in Virginia, where she oversaw the production and distribution of seven real estate magazines.

    PITTSBURGH —Bill Buchanan Jr. of Buchanan Lumber Birmingham in Aliceville, Ala., is the new president of the Hardwood Manufacturers Assn. for 2002.
    Other new officers are Dan Harrison, Cersosimo Lumber, Brattleboro, Vt., first vice president; Jeff Hanks, Bill Hanks Lumber, Danbury, N.C., second vice president; and Susan Regan, executive vice president.
    Newly elected directors are Jim Howard, Atlanta Hardwood, Mableton, Ga.; John Albert, Coastal Lumber, Weldon, N.C.; Marc Lewis, Dwight Lewis Lumber, Hillsgrove, Pa.; Rick Hanna, Hanna Mfg., Winnfield, La.; Troy Brown, Kretz Lumber, Antigo, Wis.; John Cashwell, Maine Woods, Bangor, Maine; Jim Mulligan, Pike Lumber, Akron, Ind.; Pem Jenkins, Turn Bull Lumber, Elizabethtown, N.C.; and Gary Ort, Wolf River Lumber, New London, Wis.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. — The International Furnishings and Design Assn. Educational Foundation has named its new board of trustees and announced scholarship and grant winners.
    Helen Wagner is the board's chair and Shirley Ebert is vice chair and treasurer.
    Other trustees are Wilma Hammett, director of grants and scholarships; Harriet Schoenthal, director of marketing and communications; Kerry Touchette, 2002 Symposium chair; Irma Dobkin, advisor; and Daphne Bloomberg, symposium sponsorship.
    Scholarships and grants totaling $7,000 were awarded to Heidi Betz, Illinois Institute of Art, $1,500 Student Merit Scholarship; Claudine Whittley, Drexel University, $1,000 Charles Mayo Scholarship; Jessica Chong Won Woo, Pratt Institute, $1,000 Student Scholarship; and Bhelma Lewis, Nassau Community College, $1,000 Student Scholarship.
    Betty Jo White, Kansas State University instructor, was awarded a $2,500 grant to market the Universal/Lifespan Design concept.
