FDC to host Solie exhibit

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 14, 2002

Beginning April 18, the Furniture Discovery Center will host an exhibit honoring the work of furniture designer O.B. Solie.

Solie has been a contemporary case goods designer for more than 40 years. He is almost as well known for his drawings, which parody furniture trends, as he is for his furniture designs.

The exhibit, which runs through September, is designed by Susan Von Cannon. The center is at 101 West Green Drive.

The American Society of Furniture Designers will honor Solie with a cocktail reception and dinner on Friday, April 19, at 5:30 p.m. at the International Home Furnishings Club. The guest speaker will be Haig Khachatoorian, department head for Industrial Design at North Carolina State University. Joe Carroll, publisher of Furniture/Today, will be on hand to sign copies of his book, "The Perfect Home."

For reservations, call (910) 576-1573.
