Natco adding woven rugs

WEST WARWICK, R.I. — Natco Products is joining the ranks of U.S. woven rug manufacturers. The company has agreed to purchase Flemish Master Weavers of Sanford, Maine, which makes rugs under the name of Rainbow Rugs.
Both companies are privately held and did not disclose the purchase price or sales and earnings figures.
Natco, an importer and distributor of home textiles, is the parent company of Central Oriental.
"The acquisition of Flemish Master Weavers will allow us to domestically produce area rugs tailored for the American market. The manufacturing facility will produce high-quality woven rugs to complement the wide variety of imported rugs we now market," said Michael Litner, president of Natco.
"The opportunity to produce our own colors and designs domestically will be a great advantage for us as the rug business continues to evolve as one of the fastest-growing sectors of the home fashions industry."
Other U.S. makers of woven area rugs include Mohawk, Shaw, Oriental Weavers USA and Orian. In February, Beaulieu agreed to sell its rug division to Springs Inds.
