Maison & Objet attendance up 8%

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, February 22, 2004

PARIS — Maison & Objet attracted 64,915 buyers to its January show, an 8% increase from the January 2003 market, organizers of the home furnishings trade show reported.

There were 5% more visitors from France than last year and 15% more international attendees. France accounted for 69% of the total, and most foreign buyers were from elsewhere in Europe.

U.S. visitors numbered 1,344, a 7% increase from the previous January. Among the top 10 countries outside France represented, South Korea had the biggest gain in attendance, jumping 90% to 479 visitors.

There were 52% more buyers from Eastern European countries, but they still accounted for just 2.6% of total attendance.
