Sears
HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. —Roger Detter has been named senior vice president and general merchandise manager of home fashions, hardware, paint, lawn and garden, automotive and recreation at Sears.
He previously was vice president and GMM of Sears' full-line stores in the Western region. In his new position, he reports to Mark Cosby, president of Sears' full-line stores.
Mike McCarthy, district general manager of north Chicago for Sears, will succeed Detter in his previous position.
SALES
Elements By Grapevine
LOCKEFORD, Calif. — Accent furniture maker and importer Elements By Grapevine has named Robert D. Brody to the newly created position of national sales manager.
He will be responsible for sales management, including hiring and training of sales representatives.
He reports to Isaac Kubryk, Elements By Grapevine's CEO.
Brody's furniture industry career includes buying duties at Gimbels in Philadelphia, and as store divisional merchandise manager for The May Co. in California and Federated Department Stores divisions Bullocks and Macy's West.
He also launched the Belle Maison designer showroom in the L.A. Mart and operated it for 12 years.
Morgan Fabric
LOS ANGELES —Michael Burch and Steve McCusker have joined Morgan Fabric as its sales representatives in the Southeast.
Burch previously spent 10 years with Carolina Decorative Fabric as vice president of sales and marketing. Carolina Decorative was the Carolina Mills residential fabrics division, which was bought by Chatham about two years ago.
McCusker previously spent 25 years representing Home Fabrics, a division of Joan Fabrics. Oakwood Interiors
ONTARIO , Calif. — Oakwood Interiors, a producer of bedroom and home entertainment furniture, has hired two sales representatives.
Ben Wallach will cover upstate New York. John Lyons will handle Chicago and northern Illinois.
Spring Air West
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill. —Steve Reiger has joined Spring Air Company West as a sales representative covering western Washington state.
Reiger has been in the bedding industry for 28 years, and spent the last 19 years with La-Z-Boy as a rep in Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
Therapedic Midwest
MIDDLESEX , N.J. —Chris Paulk has joined bedding producer Therapedic Midwest as a key account representative in Chicago.
He most recently was with Serta in the Chicago market, and previously worked as a store manager for Bedding Experts in Chicago and as a regional manager for American Mattress.
Paulk reports to Jerry Reese, sales manager of Therapedic's Rock Island, Ill., factory.

Hammary
LENOIR , N.C. — Hammary Furniture, a La-Z-Boy company, celebrated its 60th anniversary at the October market with drawings for a Westbury Manor bar unit.
The winning retailers were Kim Kenney of Interiors and Associates in Lincoln, Neb., and Gerald Miller of La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries in Coquitlam, British Columbia.
